Rotary Club of Bangkok Vibhavadi, in partnership with the Rotary Club of Udomsuk, successfully delivered 45 wheelchairs to disabled individuals and patients in the Lak Si District under the project “Wheelchairs for the Disabled and Patients in the Lak Si Community.” The wheelchairs were provided as part of a collaborative project between Rotary Districts 3523, 3350, 3360, and the Cao Zhong Zhi Foundation in Taipei.

The event, held at Kheha Toong Songhong Withaya 1 School, was made possible with the support of the school's director, Mr. Sompop Niltakoch, who personally oversaw the venue's preparations. The Lak Si District Office also played a key role, with officials facilitating the registration process for recipients. Mr. Prachuap Noi-amat, director of the district, presided over the opening ceremony, while Dr. Wutthichai Mu-sakunchai, director of Public Health Service Center 53, attended to witness the occasion.

The 45 wheelchairs were distributed to patients who came with their caregivers, as well as representatives from the local community, including the community president and committee members. These community leaders not only supported the recipients but also helped transport the wheelchairs to the homes of those in need. The event was filled with smiles, gratitude, and a shared sense of joy.

Later that afternoon, the Lak Si District Office received a message from a villager expressing gratitude. On the same day, a resident experienced a medical emergency, and the newly delivered wheelchair was instrumental in getting the patient to the hospital in time for treatment. This timely use of the wheelchair underscored the immediate impact of the donation, leaving the Rotary Clubs and community members alike with a deep sense of fulfillment and pride.

At Lom Sak Hospital in Phetchabun, the Ear, Nose, and Throat (ENT) department is grappling with a serious shortage of essential medical equipment. With only a single otoscope available, the hospital is struggling to meet the growing demand for otolaryngology care. In cases where patients suffer from severe ear pain caused by foreign objects, such as insects lodged in the ear canal, immediate treatment is crucial. However, the lack of appropriate tools forces doctors to use a mucus suction machine—a makeshift and unsanitary solution. Faced with the urgency and the patients' pain, doctors are left with no other choice.

The Rotary Club of Bangkok Vibhavadi is spearheading a project to donate vital ENT medical devices to Lom Sak Hospital. With this initiative, we aim to provide essential equipment, including an ENT examination unit, audiometer, endoscope system, and examination instruments. These tools will replace the improvised methods currently used, allowing doctors to deliver precise, timely care and dramatically improve patient outcomes.

The Impact of Your Support

By equipping Lom Sak Hospital with the tools they need, we are ensuring that local patients no longer have to travel to distant hospitals for specialized care. These devices will not only provide better diagnoses and treatment options but also allowing hospital’s medical team to focus on delivering quality care rather than finding makeshift solutions.

We Need Your Help

The Rotary Club of Bangkok Vibhavadi is calling on supporters and partners to join us in transforming the healthcare landscape for the people of Lom Sak. Whether through financial support, in-kind donations, or simply spreading the word, your involvement can make a lasting difference in the lives of countless patients and their families.

Together, we can bridge the gap in healthcare for Lom Sak Hospital’s ENT department. Let’s ensure that every patient has access to the care they deserve.

In a heartwarming display of community solidarity and support, the Rotary Club of Bangkok Vibhavadi, in partnership with Lak Si district officers, dedicated time and resources to bring much-needed aid to bedridden patients residing in Thung Song Hong Housing.

Venturing into nine different communities within the housing area, the team visited over 30 individuals confined to their beds due to various health conditions. Our primary goal was to alleviate the burdens faced by these vulnerable members of society and provide them with essential supplies.

During our visits, the team distributed diapers and food supplies, acknowledging the practical challenges faced by bedridden patients and their caregivers. These provisions aim to ease some of the financial and logistical burdens associated with their daily care routines, ensuring that they have access to basic necessities.

Beyond the tangible assistance, the visits also served as a source of emotional support and companionship for the patients, many of whom may feel isolated or overlooked. The presence of volunteers and district officers offered a sense of connection and solidarity.

This collaborative effort between the Rotary Club of Bangkok Vibhavadi and Lak Si district officers exemplifies the power of collective action in addressing local challenges and fostering a culture of empathy and service. By coming together to support those in need, we demonstrate the profound impact that can be achieved through acts of kindness and solidarity within the community.

Collected plastic bottles were transformed into plant pots and road tiles using a grinder, combining them with cement. The plant pots were then handed over to children, who took the opportunity to showcase their artistic talents by painting them.

To further support mangrove preservation, a plant pot auction was organized, drawing the attention of fellow Rotarians attending the event. Rotary clubs unite in lead-free noodle pots exchange event

In a heartwarming event that radiated camaraderie, the Rotary Club of Bangkok Vibhavadi extended a warm welcome to their sister club, the Rotary Club of Daegu Eagle from Daegu, South Korea. This unique event combined a lead-free noodle pot exchange with a touch of humor as old pots met their demise under the collective force of hammers.

As part of the exchange, representatives from both clubs handed over stainless steel noodle pots to local restaurant owners, symbolizing their commitment to safer dining experiences. However, the traditional handshake and exchange ceremony took a delightful twist when participants burst into laughter during the smashing of old, lead-contaminated pots.

Pot-Smashing Ritual

The pot-smashing ritual was more than just a spectacle; it was a metaphorical declaration that these old, unsafe pots would never return to kitchen service, ensuring the safety of diners in local community. The event was a wonderful blend of laughter, smiles, and warm interactions. It showcased the power of collaboration and the shared commitment of both clubs to create safer, healthier communities.

The Rotary Club of Bangkok Vibhavadi continues its commitment to environmental stewardship by organizing a waste segregation training session for the Phacharapha community. This initiative aims to equip residents with the knowledge and tools needed for responsible waste management.

The training covered essential topics such as proper waste sorting techniques and recycling best practices. Club president Sittipon Simasanti, one of the leading household plastic products manufacturer in Thailand, led the informative session, engaging community members in interactive discussions and hands-on demonstrations.

This proactive effort by the Rotary Club of Bangkok Vibhavadi reflects their dedication to fostering environmental awareness and responsible citizenship. By providing valuable waste segregation training, the club empowers the community to make environmentally conscious choice

Waste Segregation Corner at Home Photo Contest

After the training session, Rotary Club of Bangkok Vibhavadi has initiated an engaging and educational competition to promote waste segregation at home. The "Waste Segregation Corner at Home" photo contest encourages community members to showcase their creative and practical approaches to responsible waste management.

Because, starting is the hardest part of waste segregation.

Participants are invited to post photographs of their personalized waste segregation corners within their homes on Social Media with tags #แยกขยะเริ่มจากในบ้าน #rotaryvibhavadi, demonstrating how they sort, recycle, and reduce waste effectively. Entries will be judged on innovation, functionality, and environmental impact.

This contest not only inspires residents to adopt sustainable practices but also underscores the Rotary Club's commitment to environmental consciousness. Prizes and recognition will be awarded to the most inspiring and eco-friendly waste segregation corners, encouraging more households to embrace responsible waste disposal. The submission deadline for this exciting competition is October 31, 2023, with winners to be announced shortly thereafter.

The Rotary Club of Bangkok Vibhavadi has donated a series of trash bins to residents in Phacharapha community, Lak Si, Thailand. By giving each family their own bins, this grassroots initiative aims to encourage responsible waste disposal and enhance the overall appearance of the neighborhood.

Community leaders and Rotarians have joined forces to distribute the bins to households across Phacharapha community. With these new bins, residents have a convenient and accessible way to dispose of their trash properly, helping to reduce litter and promote waste segregation.

By fostering a sense of shared responsibility, we hope to not only improve its aesthetic appeal but also set an example for neighboring areas to follow suit in the quest for a tidier, more sustainable future.
