This week, our Rotary Club of Bangkok Vibhavadi had the privilege of visiting Lom Sak Hospital in Phetchabun to see firsthand the impact of medical equipment that we, together with our Rotary partners, have donated over the past two years.

Earlier this year, our club officially handed over an ENT (Ear, Nose, and Throat) examination workstation through a Rotary Global Grant. On our visit, we were delighted to see the device fully installed and actively being used by the hospital’s medical team. It was heartening to witness how this equipment is now enabling doctors to provide proper diagnosis and treatment for patients—something that had previously required makeshift solutions.

Hospital records indicate that between July 15, 2024 and August 28, 2025, Lom Sak Hospital treated 2,010 ENT outpatients. In the two months after the ENT workstation was installed, the hospital saw a 69% increase in ENT patient visits, reflecting both greater community trust and expanded treatment capacity.

The hospital also achieved a historic milestone on 17 July 2025, when its surgical team successfully performed a chest tissue transplant in an oral cancer patient—the very first case of this kind ever completed at Lom Sak Hospital. This breakthrough demonstrates the hospital’s growing capacity to handle advanced and complex procedures closer to home for patients.

During our visit, we also reviewed the fundus camera donated by our club in the previous Rotary year, with the generous support of our sister club, the Rotary Club of Daegu Eagle in South Korea. This device has proven to be an essential resource for the hospital’s eye care program, enabling early detection and treatment of conditions such as diabetic retinopathy and glaucoma. Doctors emphasized how it has strengthened their ability to preserve patients’ vision and prevent avoidable blindness.

In response to the hospital’s request for additional tools to complement the ENT workstation, our club also delivered a new set of forceps and speculums during this visit. These instruments will allow the medical team to use the workstation more effectively and broaden the range of examinations and treatments they can provide to patients in need.

As Rotarians, we believe in “Service Above Self”, and it was inspiring to see how these contributions are touching lives in such a meaningful way. Standing alongside the doctors and nurses of Lom Sak Hospital, we felt proud to know that our efforts, supported by Rotary friends near and far, are bringing hope and health to this community.

This visit reaffirmed to us that Rotary’s work does not end with the handover of equipment—it continues as we return to see the outcomes, build relationships, and commit ourselves to the ongoing mission of creating lasting change in people’s lives.

The Rotary Club of Bangkok Vibhavadi held a special event on May 21, 2025 at Grand Hyatt Erawan Bangkok to mark its 25th anniversary and install the 2024–2025 club officers.

It was an evening filled with joy, reflection, and Rotary spirit. With over 250 Rotarians from across Bangkok in attendance, the ballroom was alive with energy, laughter, and meaningful reconnections. It was especially heartwarming to see former members and past presidents return to join the celebration — many of whom helped shape the club into what it is today.

A night to remember: celebrating 25 years of Rotary fellowship and service

We took the opportunity to look back on the journey of our club through three eras of giving: from digging village wells in our early years, to our signature “Lead-Free Thai Cooking Pot” project for public health, and now our ongoing efforts to support bedridden and elderly residents in Lak Si District — now entering its sixth year.

A night to remember: celebrating 25 years of Rotary fellowship and service

One of the most touching moments came when the medical team from Lom Sak Hospital joined us in person. After receiving the ENT examination workstation just two days prior, they came to express their heartfelt thanks and shared how much of a difference this equipment will make for their patients. Their words reminded us all why we do what we do.

A night to remember: celebrating 25 years of Rotary fellowship and service

We also celebrated the achievements of our outgoing president, Rotarian Benyapa Wonnadechtadakul, whose leadership brought many projects to successful completion this year. And in a respectful, well-conducted ceremony, Rotarian Surapol Vessrodkit was officially installed as our new club president for 2025–2026, with the collar handover conducted by our district’s respected leaders.

The evening also included a fun raffle, with proceeds going directly to our club’s future service projects — a perfect blend of fellowship and fundraising, celebrating both a strong legacy and a renewed commitment to serve.

On Sunday, April 20, 2025, our club held one of our signature environmental activities, the “Kho Kai Kho Khuat (Plastic bottles for eggs)” project, at the Thung Song Hong 317 Community Office.

Kho Kai Kho Khuat – Bottles for eggs at Laksi

The event coincided with the community’s annual tradition of pouring water and asking blessings from the elderly, a beautiful custom that has been carried on for many years. This year, we were honored to join in the ceremony and receive blessings alongside the residents. We were also privileged to be joined by Ms. Orsri Pholthawon, Assistant Director of Laksi District Office, along with district officers and the environmental division, who kindly supported us in collecting and processing the plastic bottles.

Kho Kai Kho Khuat – Bottles for eggs at Laksi

The community truly impressed us with their dedication to waste separation. All bottles were thoroughly cleaned, with caps and labels removed, weighed, and neatly packed in bags. This preparation made the entire exchange smooth, efficient, and inspiring.

For this round, our club prepared 350 packs of eggs and 300 sports shirts (the shirts generously sponsored by Nanyang Textile Co., Ltd. through one of our members) to exchange with the community for their plastic bottles. All collected bottles were handed over to the environmental division of the Laksi District Office, to be converted into funds supporting future community waste-separation campaigns.

In addition, our club donated 85 packs of eggs and 100 sports shirts directly to the Laksi District Office, as a token of appreciation for their strong cooperation and continuous support in carrying out this project for the benefit of the community.

Once again, our club showed how small actions can create big impact—caring for the environment while supporting the community. With the district office and local residents by our side, we continue to work together for a greener, healthier, and more sustainable Laksi.

Protecting the Environment

We are committed to supporting activities that strengthen the conservation and protection of natural resources, advance ecological sustainability, and foster harmony between communities and the environment. We empower communities to access grants and other resources, embrace local solutions, and spur innovation in an effort to address the causes and reduce the effects of climate change and environmental degradation.

Patcharapha has been under our club’s care for the past eight years, beginning with Past President Yaowalak Polsen (Class 112) and carried on with love and dedication by each president since. This long-standing relationship has made Children’s Day here a tradition that we all look forward to every year.

The event was filled with happiness as we handed out toys, snacks, drinks, books, financial support, and hosted fun games with plenty of prizes. This year, there were even more gifts than children attending, which meant that each child was able to draw from the lucky round twice and bring home more than two presents each—not including extra prizes and rewards from the games!

The smiles and laughter of the children reminded us why we serve. As members, we feel proud to be part of this meaningful activity that brings joy to children and strengthens the bond between our club and the community. We hope to continue sharing happiness with Patcharapha’s children every Children’s Day in the years to come.

The activity took place at the Royal Military Academy, Nakhon Nayok Province.

For this special occasion, we planted the Ratchaphruek (Golden Shower Tree), Thailand’s national tree. In honor of His Majesty King Rama X’s 72nd Birthday Anniversary this year, a total of 1,072 trees were planted and handed over to the academy.

The atmosphere was filled with joy and fellowship as Rotarians came together to plant trees and even launch seed balls with slingshots into the nearby forest area. These trees will help expand green spaces, increase oxygen, and play a small yet meaningful role in reducing global warming for our world.

This Rotary year has been especially meaningful for our club as we continued our long-running community service project: “Providing Essential Care Sets for Bedridden Patients and the Elderly in Laksi District.”

Rotary friendship in action: Bangkok Vibhavadi & Daegu Eagle double community impact

On Friday, October 18, 2024, we had the great honor of welcoming our sister club partner, President Hong Chang-kyun and members of the Rotary Club of Daegu Eagle, District 3700, South Korea. Together with our club president, Benyapa Wonnadechtadakul, and members of the Rotary Club of Bangkok Vibhavadi, District 3350, we delivered 130 essential care sets worth USD 4,000 (approximately 5,000,000 KRW or THB 132,000) to bedridden patients and elderly residents in the Laksi District. That first distribution reached 19 families.

Rotary friendship in action: Bangkok Vibhavadi & Daegu Eagle double community impact

We continued this effort on November 26, 2024, when more than 20 club members, district officers, and community health volunteers (Aor Sor Mor) divided into two teams and visited 11 communities, reaching 51 additional families. Together, the two rounds of distribution supported a total of 70 families across Laksi.

Rotary friendship in action: Bangkok Vibhavadi & Daegu Eagle double community impact

The Laksi District is home to 76 communities and at least 744 vulnerable residents, including 172 bedridden patients, 235 elderly living alone, and 337 registered persons with disabilities. Visiting these homes reminded us once again of the many people who continue to live in hardship, with limited access to care and support.

Rotary friendship in action: Bangkok Vibhavadi & Daegu Eagle double community impact

This project, now in its fifth consecutive year, has never once revisited the same household—a clear sign that there are still many more who remain unseen and underserved. Thanks to the USD 2,000 contribution from our sister club, Rotary Daegu Eagle, the scale of this year’s effort was doubled compared to previous years, bringing smiles and comfort to even more families.

We extend our sincere gratitude to our partners: the Rotary Club of Daegu Eagle, the Laksi District Office, the community representatives, and all our dedicated members. Together, we have shown the true spirit of Rotary—“Service Above Self.” We look forward to carrying on this project in the years to come, continuing to uplift lives in our community.

  • Yok (Miss Paphavee Ongsee), age 14
  • Palm (Miss Korakot Phanpinich), age 14

Both are in Grade 9 and were eager to take part in the three-day, two-night leadership camp. Together with more than 160 other young participants from Rotary Clubs across District 3350, they experienced inspiring activities designed to build confidence, teamwork, and leadership skills.

It was wonderful to see how this camp encourages young people to express themselves, to be bold, and to step forward as future leaders who will contribute positively to society. Every year when RYLA ends, we can see the joy and new energy on the faces of the participants—and this year was no different.

We are proud that our club continues to support the youth in the Lak Si community with opportunities like this. By sending students to RYLA, we are helping to prepare them for the wider world and giving them experiences they will carry with them into the future.

Rotary Club of Bangkok Vibhavadi, in partnership with the Rotary Club of Udomsuk, successfully delivered 45 wheelchairs to disabled individuals and patients in the Lak Si District under the project “Wheelchairs for the Disabled and Patients in the Lak Si Community.” The wheelchairs were provided as part of a collaborative project between Rotary Districts 3523, 3350, 3360, and the Cao Zhong Zhi Foundation in Taipei.

The event, held at Kheha Toong Songhong Withaya 1 School, was made possible with the support of the school's director, Mr. Sompop Niltakoch, who personally oversaw the venue's preparations. The Lak Si District Office also played a key role, with officials facilitating the registration process for recipients. Mr. Prachuap Noi-amat, director of the district, presided over the opening ceremony, while Dr. Wutthichai Mu-sakunchai, director of Public Health Service Center 53, attended to witness the occasion.

The 45 wheelchairs were distributed to patients who came with their caregivers, as well as representatives from the local community, including the community president and committee members. These community leaders not only supported the recipients but also helped transport the wheelchairs to the homes of those in need. The event was filled with smiles, gratitude, and a shared sense of joy.

Later that afternoon, the Lak Si District Office received a message from a villager expressing gratitude. On the same day, a resident experienced a medical emergency, and the newly delivered wheelchair was instrumental in getting the patient to the hospital in time for treatment. This timely use of the wheelchair underscored the immediate impact of the donation, leaving the Rotary Clubs and community members alike with a deep sense of fulfillment and pride.

At Lom Sak Hospital in Phetchabun, the Ear, Nose, and Throat (ENT) department is grappling with a serious shortage of essential medical equipment. With only a single otoscope available, the hospital is struggling to meet the growing demand for otolaryngology care. In cases where patients suffer from severe ear pain caused by foreign objects, such as insects lodged in the ear canal, immediate treatment is crucial. However, the lack of appropriate tools forces doctors to use a mucus suction machine—a makeshift and unsanitary solution. Faced with the urgency and the patients' pain, doctors are left with no other choice.

The Rotary Club of Bangkok Vibhavadi is spearheading a project to donate vital ENT medical devices to Lom Sak Hospital. With this initiative, we aim to provide essential equipment, including an ENT examination unit, audiometer, endoscope system, and examination instruments. These tools will replace the improvised methods currently used, allowing doctors to deliver precise, timely care and dramatically improve patient outcomes.

The Impact of Your Support

By equipping Lom Sak Hospital with the tools they need, we are ensuring that local patients no longer have to travel to distant hospitals for specialized care. These devices will not only provide better diagnoses and treatment options but also allowing hospital’s medical team to focus on delivering quality care rather than finding makeshift solutions.

We Need Your Help

The Rotary Club of Bangkok Vibhavadi is calling on supporters and partners to join us in transforming the healthcare landscape for the people of Lom Sak. Whether through financial support, in-kind donations, or simply spreading the word, your involvement can make a lasting difference in the lives of countless patients and their families.

Together, we can bridge the gap in healthcare for Lom Sak Hospital’s ENT department. Let’s ensure that every patient has access to the care they deserve.

In a heartwarming display of community solidarity and support, the Rotary Club of Bangkok Vibhavadi, in partnership with Lak Si district officers, dedicated time and resources to bring much-needed aid to bedridden patients residing in Thung Song Hong Housing.

Venturing into nine different communities within the housing area, the team visited over 30 individuals confined to their beds due to various health conditions. Our primary goal was to alleviate the burdens faced by these vulnerable members of society and provide them with essential supplies.

During our visits, the team distributed diapers and food supplies, acknowledging the practical challenges faced by bedridden patients and their caregivers. These provisions aim to ease some of the financial and logistical burdens associated with their daily care routines, ensuring that they have access to basic necessities.

Beyond the tangible assistance, the visits also served as a source of emotional support and companionship for the patients, many of whom may feel isolated or overlooked. The presence of volunteers and district officers offered a sense of connection and solidarity.

This collaborative effort between the Rotary Club of Bangkok Vibhavadi and Lak Si district officers exemplifies the power of collective action in addressing local challenges and fostering a culture of empathy and service. By coming together to support those in need, we demonstrate the profound impact that can be achieved through acts of kindness and solidarity within the community.

Collected plastic bottles were transformed into plant pots and road tiles using a grinder, combining them with cement. The plant pots were then handed over to children, who took the opportunity to showcase their artistic talents by painting them.
