Rotary friendship in action: Bangkok Vibhavadi & Daegu Eagle double community impact

This Rotary year has been especially meaningful for our club as we continued our long-running community service project: “Providing Essential Care Sets for Bedridden Patients and the Elderly in Laksi District.”

On Friday, October 18, 2024, we had the great honor of welcoming our sister club partner, President Hong Chang-kyun and members of the Rotary Club of Daegu Eagle, District 3700, South Korea. Together with our club president, Benyapa Wonnadechtadakul, and members of the Rotary Club of Bangkok Vibhavadi, District 3350, we delivered 130 essential care sets worth USD 4,000 (approximately 5,000,000 KRW or THB 132,000) to bedridden patients and elderly residents in the Laksi District. That first distribution reached 19 families.

We continued this effort on November 26, 2024, when more than 20 club members, district officers, and community health volunteers (Aor Sor Mor) divided into two teams and visited 11 communities, reaching 51 additional families. Together, the two rounds of distribution supported a total of 70 families across Laksi.

The Laksi District is home to 76 communities and at least 744 vulnerable residents, including 172 bedridden patients, 235 elderly living alone, and 337 registered persons with disabilities. Visiting these homes reminded us once again of the many people who continue to live in hardship, with limited access to care and support.

This project, now in its fifth consecutive year, has never once revisited the same household—a clear sign that there are still many more who remain unseen and underserved. Thanks to the USD 2,000 contribution from our sister club, Rotary Daegu Eagle, the scale of this year’s effort was doubled compared to previous years, bringing smiles and comfort to even more families.
We extend our sincere gratitude to our partners: the Rotary Club of Daegu Eagle, the Laksi District Office, the community representatives, and all our dedicated members. Together, we have shown the true spirit of Rotary—“Service Above Self.” We look forward to carrying on this project in the years to come, continuing to uplift lives in our community.
